Second Generation Manchester Choral Society is an auditioned youth choir whose members come from schools throughout the Greater Manchester area. Established in the spring of 2012, through a collaboration between Manchester Choral Society (MCS) and Manchester Community Music School ( MCMS), 2G MCS provides a unique opportunity for exceptional young singers to perform a variety of choral works. Both MCS and MCMS are committed to educational outreach and to providing young students with experiences that promote a love of music. Directed by Krystal Morin, and accompanied by Elizabeth Blood, the choir meets at MCMS weekly.

FALL 2020 SEMESTER UPDATE
Second Generation Manchester Choral Society (2G MCS) is offering a FREE virtual program this fall that will provide games and social activities, exercises that promote social and emotional health, and song and movement music-making opportunities. 2G MCS will provide a space for young people to connect socially, address social and emotional health through Mindfulness, Yoga, and Alexander Technique approaches, and participate in song and movement activities that develop individual singing skills, improvisation, and creativity. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a virtual choir project as a culmination of the program which will be shared with parents and the public. Krystal Morin is a New England based conductor, singer, and educator who believes in music as a tool for personal and community empowerment. As a conductor, singer, and musical leader, she is constantly pursuing new opportunities to engage in impactful music-making experiences.
In addition to her work with Second Generation Manchester Choral Society, Krystal is an assistant conductor for the Boston Children's Chorus. She also serves as the assistant music director for Manchester Choral Society (NH) and teaches private voice at Manchester Community Music School. Krystal also works with André de Quadros and Judy Braha from Boston University Brad also worked with Dr. de Quadros utilizing music and arts in incarceration settings around Boston. Krystal is an active singer with New Hampshire Master Chorale as well as with VOICES 21C, a Boston-based chamber group committed to social justice issues that follows an egalitarian leadership model. As a member of this ensemble, she serves on the leadership team where she supports artistic programming and staging work, including for the last three international concert tours of France, Mexico, and Israel and Palestine. Krystal is in her first year pursuing her Master of Music in Choral Conducting at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying conducting with George Case and voice with Kevin Wilson. Prior to this, she taught music at ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough, NH for seven years leading five choral ensembles. She currently serves as the immediate past-president for the NH Chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association. Krystal is a native of Plaistow, NH and completed her undergraduate degree in Music Education at Plymouth State University as a choral fellow to Dr. Dan Perkins. |

Elizabeth Blood holds a B.M. Degree from Northwestern University, where she was a recipient of the Helen L. Teich scholarship, as well as two M.M. Degrees from Florida State University in Accompanying/Chamber Music and Opera Coaching. Ms. Blood currently serves as a Staff Accompanist/Lecturer at the University of New Hampshire and is Education Coordinator and member of the Piano Faculty at the Manchester Community Music School. She has served on the faculties of Shorter College (Rome, GA), Plymouth State University and Keene State Colllege. Ms. Blood has also served as a collaborative pianist for the Opera in the Ozarks (AK), the Barga Institute (Italy) and the American Institute of Musical Studies (Graz, Austria). An active freelance musician, she has served as accompanist for the Granite State Opera, New Hampshire Opera Theatre, the National Association of Teachers of Singing ad the Mobile (AL) Opera Competition. An active church musician, she is currently the Music Director at Christ the King Lutheran Church (Nashua, NH), and has also served churches in FL, GA, and IL. Ms. Blood sings in the Manchester Choral Society and serves as the accompanist for the NH All-State Choir.
