The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace.
This inspiring work for choir, solos, and chamber orchestra
is based on the Renaissance secular war song, L´homme armé (which many 15-16th century composers
used as the basis for their mass cycles). The texts are in French, Latin, and English, including
poetry by Rudyard Kipling, John Dryden, Jonathan Swift, Toge Sankichi, The Mahàbhàrata, and others.
We will be joined by the Terminal Hip Dance Company who will physically interpret this powerful
composition. The concert will also include Jonathan Santore´s poignant 9/11 memorial work, Later,
scored for orchestra and narrator (Elizabeth Cox).
